Of course, Hitler and his cohorts* were utterly traumatized by the "betrayal" of November 1918 and sought to avoid that fate at all costs, no matter how bleak the situation, wilfully ignoring that Germany in November 1918 was at the end of its rope and was looking at a Russia-style dissolution/chaos in the very near future...
Then again, if you (or anyone else sane) had commanded Nazi Germany from the start... it really would not be Nazi Germany, would it? At least not Nazi Germany as we know it.
Liberal democracy in Weimar Germany was faced with immense obstacles, not helped by the far right and militarists undermining it from the start... or the lack of hundreds of thousands of Allied troops sitting tight in German territory, as was the case after 1945. But a more "conventional" right-wing dictatorship, as was the norm for much of Europe at the time, taking over in the 30s would be unlikely to seek to knock down the table to the same extent that the Nazis did, beyond rectifications like getting the Saarland back or remilitarizing the Rhineland. Unfortunately, much like what happened in Italy with the blackshirts, the likes of Hindenburg, Papen and others basically gave the keys to Hitler and thought they were being smart.
* Because it was never just Hitler, or even Hitler and his immediate circle. There is this one line in The Boys from Brazil, where Nazi hunter Ezra Lieberman talks about the possibility of someone like Hitler rising to power again somewhere at a future date:
"I say in my talks it takes two things to make it happen again, a new Hitler and social conditions like in the thirties. But that's not true. It takes three things: the Hitler, the conditions... and the people to follow the Hitler."
Without their army of followers, Hitler, Goebbels, Himmler et al. would have lived out the rest of their lives as the mediocre and pathetic men they were before they got their foot in the door into the halls of power, helped by the political structures of Germany being utterly frayed and already undermined by forces seeking to strangle the fledgling democracy in its crib before those same forces latched onto the Nazis, thinking they could ride the tiger and not realizing or caring that the tiger had its own ideas. |

Non, Göring (qui n'était pas stupide) regrette de pas avoir réussi à imposer l'idée d'un avion en bois, dont Udet ne voulait pas.
Je précise que c'est une traduction (Deepl, donc perfectible) du l'échange original Göring/Milch.

La simple fuite en avant... Chaque jour vécu dans cette fiction est une victoire avant qu'on vous présente la note salée et qu'au lieu de sortir l'argent on se pose le canon de son arme contre sa tempe...
